The Relaunch: Updating the Blog for 2015

Not a single update to the JP Allen Blog in a whole year. Slightly embarrassing, but also a good excuse for a much needed update and redesign. I needed to refresh the site I’m running for IJEC anyway, after Google’s Webmaster Tools kept complaining about its mobile unfriendliness.

Much has changed for me professionally since the very first post on blog.jpedia.org in 2007. I’ve been promoted, done the department chair thing, the dean and faculty search thing, the editorial positions thing, while keeping the courses and the papers flowing. But now is the perfect time to take a step back, refresh, and figure out the best use of my brain and soul.

After 20 years in this business, it’s time for me to start changing the system, to use whatever little pockets of credibility or insight I’ve built up over the years to leave things better than I found them. I look forward to exploring the unfamiliar, but for the first time in years I’m fuzzy about how to proceed. So I suppose this is a way of saying:  stay tuned.
